Check Available 2026 PackagesPilgrims from Punjab usually fly from whichever of these 5 airports is closest to home (routes checked 25 September 2026):
Connecting options, Ihram timing and baggage rules for Punjab travellers are covered in our Umrah flights guide.
Hotels, inclusions, prices, documents and departure day are covered once in our full guide — choose what your Punjab trip needs:
Pilgrims from Punjab can fly to Saudi Arabia from five airports: Lahore, Islamabad and Multan, with regular non-stop Jeddah and Madinah flights, and Faisalabad and Sialkot, with non-stop Jeddah flights on limited days. Choose the airport closest to your home, book early for Ramadan and the winter holidays, and allow extra time in December–January, when fog can delay flights and close motorways.
Punjab is Pakistan's most populous province, and it sends more Umrah pilgrims than anywhere else in the country. That has one big advantage: Punjab pilgrims have more airports, more airlines and more flight days to choose from than pilgrims in any other region. It also means more competition for seats and hotels in peak seasons, and more operators to sort through.
For a family in Punjab, the Umrah itself is the same as for anyone else. What is specific to Punjab is the journey to the airport, which airport to choose, the winter fog, and how to organise large family groups spread across several cities. This guide covers those regional questions. For general planning, such as hotels, visa rules and package categories, see our complete Umrah guide.
We serve pilgrims from every city listed above, from Lahore and Rawalpindi to towns like Bhalwal, Jatoi and Haroonabad. Most planning with families outside our Sahiwal office is done by WhatsApp and phone. The regional advice below comes from organising those journeys.
When we checked airline schedules on 25 September 2026, these Punjab airports had non-stop flights to Saudi Arabia:
| Airport | Non-stop to Jeddah | Non-stop to Madinah | Main catchment |
|---|---|---|---|
| Allama Iqbal International, Lahore (LHE) | PIA, Airblue, Fly Jinnah, Saudia, SereneAir | PIA, Airblue | Lahore, central and eastern Punjab |
| Islamabad International (ISB) | PIA, Airblue, Fly Jinnah, AirSial, Saudia | PIA, Airblue | Rawalpindi, Potohar, northern Punjab |
| Multan International (MUX) | PIA, Airblue, Saudia | PIA, Airblue | South Punjab |
| Faisalabad International (LYP) | PIA, on limited days | None found | Faisalabad division, parts of Sargodha |
| Sialkot International (SKT) | PIA, on limited days | None found | Sialkot, Gujranwala belt, Narowal |
Airlines add and drop routes each season, and frequencies change around Ramadan. Treat this table as a starting point, and ask for the exact flight numbers for your dates.
Flying non-stop to Madinah lets you start with the calmer city and put on Ihram later, at the Madinah Miqat on the way to Makkah. For families with elderly parents, this gentle start is often worth planning around. From Punjab, that option exists at Lahore, Islamabad and Multan, but on fewer days than Jeddah.
| Region | Example cities | Usual first choice | Alternatives |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lahore and surroundings | Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Muridke, Ferozwala, Kot Abdul Malik | Lahore | Islamabad for specific dates |
| Gujranwala–Sialkot belt | Gujranwala, Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial, Wazirabad, Kamoke, Narowal | Lahore or Sialkot | Islamabad |
| Potohar and north | Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Wah Cantt, Taxila, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum | Islamabad | Lahore |
| Faisalabad–Sargodha belt | Faisalabad, Jhang, Chiniot, Gojra, Sargodha, Bhalwal, Khushab | Faisalabad (limited days) or Lahore | Islamabad, Multan |
| Sahiwal–Okara belt | Sahiwal, Okara, Pakpattan, Arif Wala, Burewala | Lahore | Multan |
| South Punjab | Multan, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, Vehari | Multan | Lahore |
| Thal and west | Mianwali, Bhakkar, Layyah | Multan or Islamabad | Faisalabad |
Every city page on this site names the usual airport for that city. If your town isn't listed, tell us where you live and we'll suggest the most practical airport for your dates.
Lahore has the widest choice in Punjab, with several airlines to Jeddah and non-stop Madinah flights. The main challenge is crossing the city to the airport at night and during winter fog. Families from the far side of the city should allow extra time. See Umrah from Lahore.
Islamabad International Airport serves the twin cities and the whole Potohar region, with a wide airline choice and Madinah flights. The airport is some distance from central Rawalpindi, so plan the road time. See Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
Faisalabad's own airport had non-stop Jeddah flights on limited days when we checked. On other days, Faisalabad pilgrims usually drive to Lahore, or sometimes Islamabad. See Umrah from Faisalabad.
Multan is South Punjab's gateway, with non-stop Jeddah and Madinah flights. It is the natural choice for Multan, Khanewal, Muzaffargarh, Lodhran, Vehari and beyond. See Umrah from Multan.
This industrial belt sits between Lahore and Sialkot airports. Sialkot's limited-day Jeddah flights are very convenient when they match your dates, and Lahore is close for everything else. See Gujranwala and Sialkot.
Families in the Bahawalpur division usually fly from Multan. Southern towns such as Rahim Yar Khan and Sadiqabad face a longer drive, so an overnight stay near the airport is common before early flights. See Bahawalpur.
Sargodha sits between three airports, Faisalabad, Islamabad and Lahore, so its best choice depends on the day. See Umrah from Sargodha.
Our office is in Sahiwal. Sahiwal pilgrims usually fly from Lahore, with Multan as the alternative. See Umrah from Sahiwal.
For many Punjab towns there is more than one sensible way to fly. Here is how the options compare:
| Option | Pros | Cons | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Non-stop from your nearest main airport | Shortest total journey; simple | May not fly on your preferred day | Most pilgrims |
| Drive to a bigger airport (e.g. Lahore) for a better flight | More days, more airlines, Madinah option | Longer road trip; night drive before early flights | Families wanting Madinah-first or fixed dates |
| Limited-days non-stop (Faisalabad, Sialkot) | Short drive from home | Few flight days; can sell out | Flexible travellers in those areas |
| Connecting flight via the Gulf | Sometimes cheaper; more dates | Layovers; tiring for elders | Fit, budget-first pilgrims |
Our advice: total travel time from your front door matters more than the airport's name. A three-hour drive to Lahore for a non-stop flight is often easier than a short drive to a smaller airport followed by a long connection.
Punjab's motorways, including the Lahore–Islamabad M-2, have made airport journeys faster than they were a decade ago. But road time is still the part of the journey families most often underestimate.
Every winter, dense fog and smog settle over much of Punjab, usually worst in December and January. For Umrah travellers this matters because:
This matters because the Pakistani winter school holidays, one of the busiest Umrah seasons, fall in exactly these weeks. How to reduce the risk:
Punjab has passport offices and NADRA centres in every division, plus designated vaccination centres in the major cities. The document list is the same as elsewhere in Pakistan:
| Period | Demand from Punjab | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Ramadan | Very high | Book as early as possible; the last ten nights sell out first |
| Rajab and Sha'ban | High | A popular pre-Ramadan window; good value if booked early |
| December–January school holidays | High | Family season; fog risk; book when school dates are announced |
| Summer school holidays | Moderate | Very hot in Makkah; plan prayers around the heat |
| Muharram and Safar | Lower | Best value; easier to find close hotels |
South Punjab families from Multan, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan are used to intense heat, but Makkah in summer is still very demanding. Walking on open marble and in exposed courtyards around midday is exhausting. If you travel in summer, choose a closer hotel and do most walking early in the morning or at night.
Pilgrims often ask whether Umrah is cheaper from Lahore than from, say, Bahawalnagar or Mianwali. The package itself (visa, flights, hotels and Saudi transport) is priced mainly on these factors, which have nothing to do with your home town:
Where home town does matter is getting to the airport: fuel or a hired vehicle, a possible hotel night near the airport, and time off work. Ask for these to be included in your quote if you want them arranged, so you can compare total costs fairly.
Airfares can also differ between airports on the same day. Occasionally a flight from Islamabad or Multan is cheaper than one from Lahore, or the other way round. If you are within reach of two airports, ask for both.
Punjab pilgrims often travel in large groups: extended families, a mosque committee or neighbours from one mohalla. Groups work well, but they need a little more organisation.
Punjab has more Umrah sellers than any other province: established agencies, sub-agents in smaller towns, and individuals selling seats on social media. Many sub-agents are honest intermediaries, but you should know who is actually responsible for your visa, hotels and transport.
A good operator welcomes these questions. If an operator is annoyed by them, or pushes you to "pay today before the seats are gone", take it as a reason to slow down.
The return journey is often forgotten in planning, but it has its own practical points:
Many South Punjab families still drive to Lahore out of habit. Multan's non-stop Jeddah and Madinah flights can save hours on the road. Compare both.
When their limited-day flights match your dates, they are very convenient. When they don't, Lahore or Islamabad usually is.
A non-stop Madinah flight gives elderly parents a gentle start and avoids Ihram on the plane.
Flights and airports are busiest right at the start of the break. Leaving a few days later can mean better seats and prices.
Punjab summers are hot, but Makkah heat is different. It is strong sun reflected off stone. Pack umbrellas, light colours and sunscreen.
A short fog delay can mean missing an international flight on a separate ticket. Drive, or connect on one ticket.
Night driving, fog and fatigue are a risky mix. Travel the evening before.
Check all the airports near you. Multan, Islamabad and even Sialkot may suit you better than the airport you've always used.
This is the single most common delay in Punjab families' files. Check spellings on day one.
High demand in Punjab attracts unverified sellers. Check the operator on the MoRA list and pay only a business account.
Punjab pilgrims have more choice than anyone else in Pakistan: five airports, several airlines and non-stop Madinah flights from three cities. The best trip comes from using that choice deliberately rather than by habit.
A practical takeaway: before asking for any quote, write down your town, your ideal travel week and the one thing that matters most, whether that is the shortest drive, a Madinah-first flight or the lowest price. Choose your city below to see the usual airport and packages for your area.
