Check Available 2026 PackagesFlights, hotel distance, inclusions, prices and documents are covered once in our full guide — choose what your 4 Star trip needs:
A 4 star Umrah package from Pakistan includes the Nusuk visa, return flights, closer and better-serviced hotels in Makkah and Madinah, and ground transport, with double to quad rooms and usually breakfast or half board. You pay more to walk less. That matters most for elderly parents, anyone with limited mobility and families travelling in Ramadan or school holidays.
4 Star distances, meal plans and extras described here are typical market patterns, not promises for your booking. Your 4 Star quote names the exact hotels, meals and extras. Anything missing from the quote isn’t included.
People often think a 4 star Umrah package is about luxury. It usually isn't. In Makkah, the extra money mostly buys minutes: fewer minutes walking to the Haram, fewer minutes waiting for a lift, fewer minutes searching for dinner after Isha. For a healthy 30-year-old those minutes are a small comfort. For a 72-year-old mother with arthritis, they decide whether she prays Fajr in the Haram or in her room.
That is why 4 star is the category many Pakistani families choose when parents travel with them. It is also why a 4 star package in the wrong location is poor value. If the hotel is far from the Haram, you are paying for a nicer building without the benefit that matters.
This guide explains what 4 star really offers, how to choose a hotel that delivers it, and how to plan a comfortable trip for elderly and less mobile travellers. That last part is where our planning team spends most of its time with 4 star families.
Things to confirm: Ziyarat, a Pakistani group leader, wheelchair assistance requests, early check-in after night flights, and transfers from your home town to the airport.
If none of these applies and you are travelling off-season, a well-located 3 star may give you better value.
Well-located 4 star hotels in Makkah are generally closer to the Haram than most 3 star options, and often in larger buildings with more lifts, bigger dining halls and better-trained staff. Some belong to large complexes with shops and restaurants at street level. Location varies, though. A few hotels marketed as 4 star are further out and rely on shuttles. That is why the hotel name matters more than the category.
Many 4 star hotels in Madinah sit close to Masjid an-Nabawi, sometimes just across the plaza. Because Madinah is already easier to walk around, the step from 3 to 4 star here buys less than it does in Makkah. That is why mixed packages are so popular.
Most of our 4 star enquiries come from sons and daughters planning their parents' Umrah. These are the things that make the biggest difference, in order:
Choose the closest Makkah hotel your budget allows, and check the route for slopes and stairs. A shorter, flat walk is better than a slightly shorter one with a hill.
Don't schedule the Umrah, Ziyarat and the Madinah transfer back-to-back. A good pattern is: arrive, rest, perform Umrah, rest a day, then settle into prayers. In Madinah, spread Ziyarat over two mornings.
Many flights from Pakistan land late at night. Ask the operator to arrange early check-in if possible, so your parents can sleep before performing Umrah. There is no requirement to perform Umrah the moment you arrive. They stay in Ihram and observe its restrictions until they finish.
Tawaf and Sa'i can be done in a wheelchair or electric cart. Upper floors of the Mataf have wheelchair routes, and the Mas'a has dedicated lanes. Plan for extra time, and go at quieter hours.
Elderly travellers dehydrate faster, often without feeling thirsty. Zamzam is available throughout the Haram. Encourage regular sips, use an umbrella outdoors, and avoid midday walks.
| Where | What to arrange | When |
|---|---|---|
| Pakistani departure airport | Airline wheelchair assistance to the aircraft | When the ticket is issued |
| Jeddah or Madinah arrival | Wheelchair from aircraft through immigration | Same request, confirmed by the airline |
| Hotel | Lower floor, room near the lifts | At booking, reconfirmed before travel |
| Masjid al-Haram | Wheelchair or electric cart for Tawaf and Sa'i | On the day; bring or hire your own in peak times |
| Masjid an-Nabawi | Wheelchair access routes and gates | Ask the group leader on arrival |
| Return flight | Airline wheelchair assistance again | Reconfirm a few days before departure |
Many families find it easiest to bring a lightweight folding wheelchair from Pakistan. Airlines usually carry mobility aids, but check your airline's rules first. It means your parent always has a chair, even when the Haram's supply runs short at peak times.
Both orders work. The right one depends on your flight and your parents' stamina.
| Order | Advantages for elders | Disadvantages |
|---|---|---|
| Makkah first (fly to Jeddah) | Umrah is done early, while everyone is freshest; the rest of the trip is relaxed | Ihram from Pakistan; Umrah may fall right after a tiring night flight |
| Madinah first (fly to Madinah) | Gentle start; no Ihram on the flight; time to adjust before the demanding Makkah days | Umrah comes mid-trip, after the Madinah–Makkah road journey |
For parents who find long days hard, Madinah first often works best. They land, rest and settle into the calm of Masjid an-Nabawi. When they travel to Makkah, they put on Ihram at the Madinah Miqat (Dhul Hulayfah) and arrive rested. Non-stop Madinah flights are available from some Pakistani airports on fewer days than Jeddah, so ask what is possible from yours.
This is an example of pacing, not a fixed schedule. Your operator adapts it to your flights and hotels.
| Days | Where | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Madinah | Arrive, check in, sleep. Pray in Masjid an-Nabawi only if energy allows. |
| 2–3 | Madinah | Settle into the prayer routine. Rawdah visit at the booked Nusuk slot. |
| 4 | Madinah | Morning Ziyarat, part 1 (Masjid Quba). Afternoon rest. |
| 5 | Madinah | Morning Ziyarat, part 2 (Mount Uhud). Rest day otherwise. |
| 6 | Madinah | A "nothing day": prayers only, packing in the evening. |
| 7 | To Makkah | Ihram at the Miqat, road journey, check in and rest. Umrah that night or the next morning. |
| 8 | Makkah | Recovery day after Umrah. Short visits to the Haram. |
| 9–12 | Makkah | Prayers, Tawaf at quiet hours, one short Makkah Ziyarat morning. |
| 13 | Makkah | Rest, final prayers, packing and weighing bags. |
| 14–15 | Departure | Farewell Tawaf if your fiqh requires it, then the transfer to Jeddah. |
The pattern is simple: never put two demanding days back-to-back. Umrah, Ziyarat and travel days each get their own day, with rest in between.
With elderly travellers, it pays to plan for a bad day. Most problems are minor: exhaustion, dehydration, a cold from the air-conditioning, sore feet. Some need a doctor.
Good packing prevents many small problems that wear elders down. Beyond the usual clothes and Ihram, these items earn their place:
Keep elders' hand baggage light. On arrival days, a family member should carry anything heavy.
| Feature | Economy | 3 Star | 4 Star | 5 Star |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Makkah location | Further out; shuttle | Walkable, not closest | Closer, short walk | Nearest band |
| Lifts and services | Basic | Varies | Good | Extensive |
| Meals | Room only / breakfast | Varies | Breakfast; half board on some | Breakfast; full board extra |
| Elderly-friendliness | Low | Moderate | High | Highest |
| Relative cost | Lowest | Mid | Upper-mid | Highest |
| Pros | Cheapest | Value | Comfort where it matters | Least walking, larger rooms |
| Cons | Walking | Quality varies | Peak prices climb | Premium price |
| Best for | Fit, budget-first | First-timers | Families with parents | Elderly, premium, Ramadan |

This is the most common way families make 4 star comfort affordable. Makkah is where distance hurts, and Madinah's 3 star hotels are often close anyway.
Madinah nights generally cost less than Makkah nights. Moving one or two nights to Madinah can bring a quote within budget without changing hotels.
In Muharram, Safar and summer, 4 star rooms close to the Haram cost far less than in December or Ramadan, sometimes approaching peak-season 3 star prices.
A family of four in one quad room pays much less per person than two double rooms. Check whether the quad has four real beds and enough space.
Half board is convenient for elders, but if your group prefers eating out, breakfast-only may save money without lowering comfort.
In Ramadan, 4 star is where many families with elders need to be. The walk after Taraweeh, the return for Suhoor, and the crowds at Fajr all repeat every day. A short walk turns a draining month into a manageable one.
The right operator matters as much as the right hotel. Before booking a 4 star trip for elders, ask:
Clear, specific answers are a good sign that the trip will be handled with care.
Two hotels 400 metres away can feel completely different if one route has a slope or tunnel. Look at the path in Street View.
In large 4 star buildings, corridors can be long. A room near the lifts saves your parents a lot of walking every day.
Crowds are usually heaviest around prayer times. Mid-morning and late night are often calmer, depending on the season.
Water, a light snack, medicines, a small prayer mat, a shoe bag and the hotel card. This lets parents stay between prayers without going back to the room.
In a big family group, one person should be responsible for each elder's medicines, timings and phone battery.
One day in each city with no plans except prayers. It helps everyone recover and keeps the trip spiritual rather than rushed.
A 4 star hotel far from the Haram costs more without giving the benefit you're paying for. Check the location first.
Last-minute requests may not be met. Request assistance when the ticket is issued.
Umrah on arrival night, Ziyarat the next morning and a move to Madinah the day after is too much for most parents. Space it out.
Paying 4 star prices in Madinah when a nearby 3 star hotel would serve just as well is common. Compare both.
Elderly travellers with medication schedules need reliable meals. Get breakfast and dinner arrangements in writing.
The best 4 star rooms for Ramadan go early. Late bookings often mean paying 4 star prices for a 3 star location.
A 4 star Umrah package is at its best when it buys what your group actually needs: a shorter walk in Makkah, reliable lifts and meals, and a calm base for rest. It is the category we most often recommend for families travelling with parents.
A practical takeaway: before comparing any 4 star prices, walk the route from each hotel to the Haram on Google Street View and picture your parent doing it five times a day. The right hotel will be obvious. For the complete picture, read our Umrah planning guide.
