Check Available 2026 PackagesUmrah flights from Karachi leave from Jinnah International Airport (KHI), and the Karachi routes below were checked on 25 September 2026.
For Karachi pilgrims, connecting options, Ihram timing and baggage rules are explained in our Umrah flights guide.
Hotels, inclusions, prices, documents and departure day are explained once in our full guide — pick the part your Karachi trip needs:
Karachi has Pakistan's widest choice of Umrah flights. When we checked, Jinnah International Airport had non-stop Jeddah flights on six airlines (PIA, Airblue, Fly Jinnah, Saudia, flynas and flyadeal) and non-stop Madinah flights on four (PIA, Airblue, flynas and SereneAir). Karachi–Jeddah takes about 5 hours. Compare fares with baggage included, choose hotels by walking distance, and allow for city traffic and monsoon rain on the way to the airport.
If you live in Karachi, you are closer to Makkah by air than anyone else in Pakistan, and you have more ways to get there. Jinnah International Airport has more airlines flying non-stop to Jeddah and Madinah than any other Pakistani airport, including Pakistani carriers and Saudi budget airlines. That means more flight days, more competition on fares and a realistic chance of starting your trip in Madinah.
But choice cuts both ways. Karachi's Umrah market is huge, and "cheap" quotes vary more here than anywhere else, especially on baggage, hotel distance and whether the flight is really non-stop. The skill for Karachi families is not finding a package. It is comparing the right details.
This guide is written for Karachi pilgrims. It covers the airport and airlines, budget-fare traps, getting across the city to the airport, Karachi's heat and monsoon, how to compare quotes, and how to plan for parents and families. For the Umrah rites, visa rules and hotel categories in general, see our complete Umrah guide.
When we checked airline schedules on 25 September 2026, Karachi (KHI) had:
| Route | Airlines found | Approximate flight time | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Karachi–Jeddah non-stop | PIA, Airblue, Fly Jinnah, Saudia, flynas, flyadeal | About 5 hours | Pakistan's widest airline choice to Jeddah |
| Karachi–Madinah non-stop | PIA, Airblue, flynas, SereneAir | About 4 hours | More Madinah options than any other Pakistani city |
Schedules change by season and usually increase around Ramadan. Ask for the flight numbers for your exact dates, not just "Karachi to Jeddah".
Karachi is the Pakistani city where Saudi budget airlines matter most. They can make Umrah noticeably cheaper, but only if you understand what the fare includes.
| Feature | Full-service airline | Budget airline |
|---|---|---|
| Checked baggage | Usually included | Often limited or paid extra |
| Meals on board | Usually included | Usually paid |
| Seat selection | Often free | Often paid |
| Zamzam rules | Airline-specific | Airline-specific; check carefully |
| Best for | Families with luggage, elders | Light travellers, repeat pilgrims |
The trap comes on the way home. Going out, most families carry little. Coming back, they carry Zamzam, dates, prayer mats and gifts, and pay excess baggage at Jeddah or Madinah airport. Compare fares with the return baggage you'll actually need. A slightly higher full-service fare can be the cheaper trip.
Some fares sold as "Karachi to Jeddah" route via Dubai, Sharjah, Doha or Riyadh. In some brochures "direct" means one airline or one booking, not no stops. A short connection is fine for fit travellers. A long overnight layover with elders or small children is exhausting.
Before paying, ask for the airline, flight numbers, times and any stops, in both directions. You can check each flight number on the airline's own website.
| Start in | Advantages | Things to consider | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Makkah (fly to Jeddah) | Umrah done early; the most flight days | Ihram from Karachi; Umrah may follow a night flight | Most first-timers |
| Madinah (fly to Madinah) | Calm start; no Ihram on the plane; shorter flight | Fewer flight days; Umrah mid-trip | Families with elders; anxious first-timers |
If you fly to Jeddah, men usually put on Ihram at home or at the airport, and make the intention before crossing the Miqat in the air. The crew normally announces it. If you start in Madinah, you put on Ihram at the Madinah Miqat (Dhul Hulayfah) when travelling to Makkah.
A typical Karachi night flight lands in Jeddah in the early morning. Here is how the first day usually unfolds, and where families can make it easier:
If you fly to Madinah instead, the day is gentler: check in, rest, and join the prayers in Masjid an-Nabawi when ready.
Karachi is enormous, and the airport journey depends heavily on where you live and when you travel. The airport sits off Shahrah-e-Faisal in the east-central part of the city. As a general guide:
| Area | Typical journey | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Malir, Malir Cantt, Model Colony, Shah Faisal Colony | Among the shortest | Local congestion near the airport |
| PECHS, Bahadurabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar | Moderate | Shahrah-e-Faisal and University Road traffic |
| DHA, Clifton, Saddar | Moderate to long | Evening rush hour |
| North Nazimabad, FB Area, Nazimabad, Liaquatabad | Longer | Cross-city routes at peak times |
| Korangi, Landhi | Moderate | Industrial traffic |
| Orangi, Baldia, Kemari, Surjani, Gadap | Among the longest | Distance and congestion |
These are patterns, not timings. Use a live map on the day and plan to be at the airport at least three hours before departure. Umrah flights carry large groups, and check-in queues can be long.
Many Karachi Umrah flights depart late at night or before dawn. Traffic is usually lighter at night, but not always, and weddings, events or road closures can surprise you. Keep Ihram, passports and medicines in one hand bag with one responsible person, and leave early anyway.
If you want a vehicle from home to the airport, ask for it to be priced in your quote. It is only included if listed.
Heavy monsoon rain, usually in July and August, can flood Karachi's roads and underpasses quickly. On a rainy departure day:
Karachi families are used to heat, but mostly humid coastal heat. Makkah's heat is drier and fiercer, reflected off marble and stone, and you walk a lot in the open. In summer, choose a closer hotel, walk early and late, carry an umbrella and drink Zamzam regularly. Madinah can be cool at night in winter, so pack a light layer.
| Category | Makkah hotel | Rooms | Usually suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Economy | Further out; shuttle common | Quad or shared | Fit, budget-first, repeat pilgrims |
| 3 Star | Walkable, not the closest | Double to quad | First-timers, couples, small families |
| 4 Star | Closer, shorter walk | Double to quad | Families with elderly parents |
| 5 Star | Nearest band | Double to quad | Very elderly, Ramadan, special trips |
Karachi's non-stop flights remove much of the travel fatigue other cities face. But a short flight doesn't make up for a long walk in Makkah. If elders are travelling, put the money you save on flights into a closer Makkah hotel. Many Karachi families choose a mixed package: closer in Makkah, 3 star in Madinah.
| Check | What to ask | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Hotel names | Exact hotel in each city | Walking distance varies hugely within a category |
| Flights | Airline, flight numbers, stops | "Direct" can hide a layover |
| Baggage | Allowance each way, Zamzam rules | Budget fares can cost more on the return |
| Room sharing | Quad, triple or double? | Prices are often quoted per person on quad |
| Meals | Plan in each city | Room only vs half board |
| Transport | Coach, private car or train | Comfort for elders |
| Validity and cancellation | Written terms | Protects you if plans change |
In Karachi the gap is usually hiding in one of three places: baggage on a budget fare, a hotel far from the Haram, or a layover sold as "direct". Ask about all three before you compare prices.
We don't publish a fixed Karachi "from" price because it would be out of date quickly. Share your dates and group for a written, itemised quote.
Karachi has passport offices and vaccination centres across the city, so problems can usually be fixed fast, but appointments fill up in peak season. Start early.
| Travel period | Demand | Advice |
|---|---|---|
| Ramadan, last ten nights | Highest | Book as early as possible |
| Rest of Ramadan | Very high | Book well ahead |
| Rajab and Sha'ban | High | Popular pre-Ramadan window |
| December–January | High | Pleasant weather; family season; book early |
| Summer | Moderate | Very hot in Makkah; monsoon at home |
| Muharram and Safar | Lower | Best value |
The Umrah visa must be used within 30 days of issue, so a good operator books hotels and flights early and applies for the visa close to travel.
Children need their own passports, and infants and children need a B-Form or FRC. A family quad room usually works best. Keep children close in the Haram, with your number on a card in their pocket.
Saudi rules have relaxed for adult women in organised groups, but operator policies and document checks vary. Tell the operator about every woman travelling before booking.
Choose one coordinator, one flight and one gathering point. Mixed budgets can share the same itinerary with different hotels.
Karachi isn't only for Karachi families. Pilgrims from Hyderabad, interior Sindh and much of southern Balochistan, including Gwadar, Turbat and Khuzdar, fly from Jinnah International too. If relatives from those areas are joining a Karachi group:

This is a planning overview for Karachi pilgrims, not a substitute for learning the fiqh from a scholar you trust. Knowing the order explains why hotel distance and rest days matter so much.
Allow three to five hours for the whole sequence, and longer in crowds. That is why a long journey, a late check-in and a distant hotel together make the first night so demanding — and why resting first is sometimes the wiser choice.
Most packages offer a short programme of visits to places connected with the life of the Prophet ﷺ and early Islamic history. Check whether Ziyarat is included in your quote and which sites are covered.
Spread Ziyarat over separate mornings rather than one long, hot day, especially with elders, and don’t schedule it on the same day as a long journey.
Ask for one full-service and one budget option for your dates, with baggage both ways. Then compare.
With four airlines to Madinah, Karachi families have the easiest Madinah-first option in Pakistan. It's especially good for elders.
What you save by flying non-stop from home is best spent on a shorter walk in Makkah.
On monsoon days, leave early and avoid flood-prone underpasses.
Close Makkah hotels sell out before Karachi flights do.
Tickets, vouchers, visa and the Saudi contact number, on paper as well as on your phone.
The cheapest fare is often not the cheapest trip.
Always ask for flight numbers and stops.
From the far side of Karachi at rush hour, the airport can take much longer than you think.
A great flight doesn't help if elders can't manage the walk in Makkah.
Check the operator on the MoRA list and pay only a business account.
Build in extra hours on rainy days.
Karachi gives pilgrims the widest choice of Umrah flights in Pakistan: six airlines to Jeddah, four to Madinah and flight times of about four to five hours. Using that advantage well means comparing baggage, flight numbers and hotel distance, not just headline prices.
A practical takeaway: when you ask for a Karachi quote, ask for three things: the hotel names, the flight numbers and the baggage allowance both ways. With those in writing, you can compare any two Karachi offers fairly.
Like Karachi, these areas usually fly from Jinnah International Airport (KHI).
Send your Karachi travel dates and who is travelling, and you’ll get hotel names, flights and the full price per person in writing.
