Check Available 2026 PackagesUmrah flights from Peshawar leave from Bacha Khan International Airport (PEW), and the Peshawar routes below were checked on 25 September 2026.
For Peshawar pilgrims, connecting options, Ihram timing and baggage rules are explained in our Umrah flights guide.
Hotels, inclusions, prices, documents and departure day are explained once in our full guide — pick the part your Peshawar trip needs:
Peshawar pilgrims can fly from Bacha Khan International Airport, which had non-stop Jeddah flights on Saudia and PIA when we checked, but no Madinah flights. When a Peshawar flight fits your dates, it's the easiest start. For more dates, more airlines or a Madinah-first trip, use Islamabad via the M-1. Choose your package by the Makkah hotel's walking distance, and ask for a Pashto-speaking group leader if your elders need one.
Peshawar is the gateway for pilgrims from across the Peshawar valley and much of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It has its own international airport with non-stop flights to Jeddah, so on the right day, a Peshawar family can leave home and be in Makkah the same day without a long motorway drive first.
The limitation is choice. When we checked, only two airlines flew non-stop from Peshawar to Jeddah, and there were no Madinah flights. So Peshawar families often weigh up a local flight against the wider choice at Islamabad, a motorway drive away. Getting that decision right is the most useful thing you can do before comparing packages.
This guide covers the airport choice, the journey, language, packages and quotes, documents, and planning for elders, women and big family groups. For the Umrah rites, visa rules and hotel categories in general, see our complete Umrah guide, and for the wider province, our Khyber Pakhtunkhwa guide.
When we checked airline schedules on 25 September 2026, Peshawar (PEW) had:
| Route | Airlines found | Approximate flight time |
|---|---|---|
| Peshawar–Jeddah non-stop | Saudia, PIA | About 5 hours |
| Peshawar–Madinah non-stop | None found | — |
Advantages of flying from Peshawar:
Things to keep in mind:
Always ask for the airline, flight numbers, times and baggage allowance for your dates. Some "direct" fares stop in the Gulf, so check before paying.
Islamabad International Airport had non-stop Jeddah flights on PIA, Airblue, Fly Jinnah, AirSial and Saudia, and non-stop Madinah flights on PIA and Airblue, when we checked. Peshawar families usually choose Islamabad when:
The M-1 motorway makes the drive manageable, but it still adds hours before a long flight. For night or early-morning departures from Islamabad, travel the day before and stay near the airport. See Umrah from Islamabad.
| Option | Pros | Cons | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Peshawar non-stop to Jeddah | Close to home; simple | Fewer dates; no Madinah | Flexible dates, Makkah first |
| Islamabad non-stop | More airlines, dates and a Madinah option | Motorway drive; overnight for early flights | Fixed dates, Madinah first, elders |
| Connecting via the Gulf | Sometimes cheaper | Layovers | Fit, budget-first pilgrims |
Many families prefer to start in Madinah, especially with elderly parents. You land in the calmer city, rest, pray in Masjid an-Nabawi and visit the Rawdah (booked on Nusuk). You don't wear Ihram on the plane. Later, you put on Ihram at the Madinah Miqat (Dhul Hulayfah) on the way to Makkah.
From Peshawar there are two ways to do it:
Ask for both versions priced if Madinah first matters to your family.
Bacha Khan International Airport sits close to the city, so for most Peshawar families it's a short drive. But city traffic, especially around the old city and main roads at peak hours, can still slow things down. Aim to be at the airport at least three hours before an international flight. Umrah flights carry big groups and check-in queues can be long.
Families from the old city, where streets are narrow, sometimes load luggage from a relative's house on a wider road. For Islamabad departures, plan the motorway drive with a rest stop for elders, and keep passports, Ihram and medicines in one hand bag with one responsible person. If you want transport arranged, ask for it in your quote. It is only included if listed.
Peshawar's summers are very hot and its winters cool. Makkah is hot for most of the year, even in the Pakistani winter. Pack light cotton clothes and one warm layer for air-conditioned mosques and cool Madinah nights. In summer, choose a closer Makkah hotel and walk early and late. Winter fog and rain can occasionally affect early flights and the motorway, so allow extra time in December and January, and travel the day before for Islamabad departures.
For many Peshawar families, the language of religious guidance matters. Elders often understand the rites best in Pashto, and some families prefer Hindko. When you book:
| Category | Makkah hotel | Rooms | Usually suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Economy | Further out; shuttle common | Quad or shared | Young men travelling together, repeat pilgrims |
| 3 Star | Walkable, not the closest | Double to quad | First-timers, couples, small families |
| 4 Star | Closer, shorter walk | Double to quad | Families with elderly parents |
| 5 Star | Nearest band | Double to quad | Very elderly, Ramadan, special trips |
Peshawar families used to cooler winters and dry summers often find Makkah's heat harder than expected. A closer Makkah hotel is worth more than a nicer room. In Madinah, a 3 star hotel near Masjid an-Nabawi usually serves everyone well.
Make every quote answer the same questions:
An Islamabad-departure quote can look cheaper until you add the drive and a night's stay. Compare the whole trip from your front door.
A common Peshawar problem is Pashto names transliterated differently on CNIC and passport. Match them before booking. Women and children who don't yet have passports should apply as soon as the trip is decided.
| Travel period | Demand | Advice |
|---|---|---|
| Ramadan | Very high | Peshawar seats are limited; book very early or plan for Islamabad |
| Rajab and Sha'ban | High | Popular pre-Ramadan window |
| December–January | High | Family season; allow for fog |
| Summer | Moderate | Very hot in Makkah |
| Muharram and Safar | Lower | Best value |
Use the local flight when it fits to avoid the drive. If not, stay near Islamabad airport the night before. Choose a closer Makkah hotel, request wheelchair assistance when the ticket is issued, and build rest days between travel, Umrah and Ziyarat.
Saudi rules have relaxed for adult women in organised groups, but operator policies and document checks vary. Many Peshawar families prefer women to travel with close male relatives in the same group. Tell the operator about every woman travelling before booking, and ask for rooms with family members.
Peshawar groups often include relatives from Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera and Swabi. Choose one coordinator, one airport and one flight, and collect everyone's documents early.
The package covers the trip itself. Daily life in Makkah and Madinah is extra, and Peshawar families who plan for it in advance travel far more relaxed. Amounts depend on your habits and the exchange rate, so agree a daily figure per person before you leave.
| Extra cost | When it applies | How to keep it down |
|---|---|---|
| Lunch and dinner | Room-only or breakfast packages | Eat at the many Pakistani and Indian restaurants near pilgrim hotels; share large plates |
| Taxis | When the shuttle isn’t running, or elders are tired | Plan Haram visits around shuttle hours; share within the group |
| SIM or eSIM | Maps, WhatsApp and Nusuk | One data plan per family, shared by hotspot |
| Laundry | Stays longer than a week | Quick-dry clothes; wash small items in the room |
| Ziyarat | If not in the package | Join a group tour rather than hiring a private car |
| Wheelchair or pusher | For elderly or less mobile travellers | Bring a light folding chair, or arrange one early |
| Gifts and excess baggage | On the way home | Check the return allowance and Zamzam rules before shopping |
This example shows a comfortable pace for a first Umrah from Peshawar. Your operator adapts it to your flights, hotels and whether you start in Makkah or Madinah.
| Days | Where | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Makkah | Arrive, check in, rest; perform Umrah when ready |
| 2 | Makkah | Recovery day — prayers in the Haram, no extra walking |
| 3–5 | Makkah | Prayers, Tawaf at quieter hours, one morning of Ziyarat |
| 6 | To Madinah | Road or Haramain train; check in and rest |
| 7–9 | Madinah | Prayers in Masjid an-Nabawi, Rawdah at your Nusuk slot, Ziyarat over two mornings |
| 10–11 | Departure | Pack, weigh bags, transfer to the airport and fly home |
The principle is simple: travel days, the Umrah itself and Ziyarat each get their own day, with rest in between. It keeps everyone well enough to worship on every day of the trip.
This is a planning overview for Peshawar pilgrims, not a substitute for learning the fiqh from a scholar you trust. Knowing the order explains why hotel distance and rest days matter so much.
Allow three to five hours for the whole sequence, and longer in crowds. That is why a long journey, a late check-in and a distant hotel together make the first night so demanding — and why resting first is sometimes the wiser choice.
Most packages offer a short programme of visits to places connected with the life of the Prophet ﷺ and early Islamic history. Check whether Ziyarat is included in your quote and which sites are covered.
Spread Ziyarat over separate mornings rather than one long, hot day, especially with elders, and don’t schedule it on the same day as a long journey.
The local flight is easiest when it fits. Islamabad is the backup with more choice.
A Pashto-speaking group leader can make a real difference for elders.
Families from cooler climates feel Makkah's heat the most.
Via Islamabad, or by road from Jeddah.
With fewer Peshawar flights, seats go fast.
Check first. If Madinah first matters, plan for Islamabad.
Travel the day before for early flights.
A common cause of visa delays. Fix them early.
Check each Makkah hotel's walking route.
Check the operator and pay only a business account.
Peshawar families have a local airport with Jeddah flights and a well-connected alternative in Islamabad. The best trip uses each for what it does best.
A practical takeaway: ask for your quote in two versions, Peshawar and Islamabad, and compare them door to door. Then choose.
