Rates move with seats and season. Why Umrah prices rise and fall
Price Two OptionsBahawalpur has no Umrah flights of its own, so families drive to Multan International Airport (MUX) in Multan. Direct services below follow our 25 September 2026 timetable check.
Transit routes, when to put on Ihram and luggage limits for Bahawalpur travellers are in our airport and flight notes.
Hotel distance, add-ons, price drivers, paperwork and airport day each have a short explainer — open what your Bahawalpur trip needs:
Bahawalpur pilgrims usually fly from Multan International Airport, a drive of a couple of hours away. When we checked, it had non-stop Jeddah flights on PIA, Airblue and Saudia, and non-stop Madinah flights on PIA and Airblue. Travel to Multan the day before early flights, choose your package by the Makkah hotel's walking distance, and take Makkah's heat seriously, even if you're used to Cholistan summers.
Bahawalpur, the old princely state capital on the edge of the Cholistan desert, has a deep tradition of devotion, and families here often save for years to send parents for Umrah. The city has no international Umrah flights of its own, but Multan, with non-stop flights to both Jeddah and Madinah, is within a manageable drive.
For Bahawalpur families, good planning comes down to three things: getting to Multan at the right time, choosing a Makkah hotel close enough for elders, and preparing for heat. Many Bahawalpur groups also include relatives from Ahmedpur East, Hasilpur, Bahawalnagar, Chishtian and Yazman, so group coordination matters too.
For the Umrah rites and hotel categories in general, see our complete Umrah guide. For Multan airport, see Umrah from Multan.
When we checked airline schedules on 25 September 2026:
| Airport | Non-stop to Jeddah | Non-stop to Madinah | Flight time to Jeddah |
|---|---|---|---|
| Multan International Airport (MUX) | PIA, Airblue, Saudia | PIA, Airblue | about 5–6 hours |
Airlines change schedules every season and usually add flights around Ramadan. Ask for the airline, flight numbers, times, any stops and the baggage allowance for your exact dates. Some fares sold as “direct” stop in the Gulf on the way.
If no Multan flight fits your fixed dates, Lahore has more airlines. But it's a much longer drive from Bahawalpur, so compare the whole journey, including an overnight stay, before switching.
The drive from Bahawalpur to Multan is usually a couple of hours, depending on where you start and the traffic as you enter Multan. It's a journey most families know well, but before an international flight a few habits help:
If you want the transfer arranged, ask for it to be priced in your quote. It is only included if listed.
Multan's Madinah flights mean Bahawalpur families can choose. Makkah first (via Jeddah) gets the Umrah done early, and there are more flight days. Madinah first means no Ihram on the plane, a calmer start after the road journey, and Ihram later at the Madinah Miqat (Dhul Hulayfah) on the way to Makkah. For elders who've already spent hours on the road, the Madinah start is often kinder.
Bahawalpur families are used to fierce summers, and that can lead to underestimating Makkah. The heat there comes off white marble and stone, the walks are long and crowded, and there are several of them every day. Even hardy travellers can be drained by day three.
Bahawalpur often gathers relatives from across the division. If family from Ahmedpur East, Hasilpur or Bahawalnagar are joining:
All four categories can be booked from Bahawalpur. What should decide between them is the people in your group — especially anyone who finds long walks difficult.
| Category | Makkah hotel | Rooms | Usually suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Economy | Further out; shuttle common | Quad or shared | Fit, budget-first, repeat pilgrims |
| 3 Star | Walkable, not the closest | Double to quad | First-timers, couples, small families |
| 4 Star | Closer, shorter walk | Double to quad | Families with elderly parents |
| 5 Star | Nearest band | Double to quad | Very elderly, Ramadan, special trips |
Because Bahawalpur pilgrims often arrive in Saudi Arabia already tired from a long road journey, a closer Makkah hotel is worth more to them than to most. Many families pair it with a 3 star hotel in Madinah, where plenty of hotels are close to Masjid an-Nabawi anyway.
Two quotes that look alike can describe very different trips. Ask every seller the same questions so you can compare fairly:
Before celebrating, check four things: the hotel’s exact name and walk, whether the flight is non-stop, whether meals are included, and whether the room is quad. The gap nearly always hides in one of these answers — or in a road transfer that isn’t included.
We don’t publish a fixed “from” price for Bahawalpur because it would date within weeks. Send your dates and who is travelling, and you’ll get a written, itemised price that shows the road transfer separately if you want one.
Most visa delays come from small document problems found late — mismatched spellings, an old passport belonging to a parent who last travelled years ago, children without passports, or a vaccination done the week before travel. Sort these first. Because offices may be a long trip from Bahawalpur, try to handle passports and vaccinations for the whole family in a single visit to the city.
| Travel period | Demand | Advice |
|---|---|---|
| Ramadan | Very high | Book as early as possible; the last ten nights go first |
| Rajab and Sha’ban | High | Popular pre-Ramadan window |
| December–January holidays | High | Family season; book when school dates are announced |
| Summer | Moderate | Very hot in Makkah — choose a closer hotel |
| Muharram and Safar | Lower | Best value; easiest to find close hotels |
The Umrah visa must be used within 30 days of issue, so a good operator secures hotels and flights early but applies for the visa close to your travel date.
Three decisions matter most: the closest Makkah hotel your budget allows, a Madinah-first flight if one fits your dates, and rest days between travel, the Umrah and Ziyarat. Request wheelchair assistance when the ticket is issued — for both airports and both directions — and keep medicines in hand baggage with prescriptions and a few spare days’ supply.
Saudi rules have relaxed for adult women travelling in organised groups, but operator policies and document checks still vary. Tell the operator about every woman travelling before booking, and ask for rooms with family members.
Every child needs a passport, plus a B-Form or FRC to show the relationship. A family quad room is usually the best value. In the Haram, keep children close, put your phone number on a card in their pocket and agree a meeting point.
Choose one coordinator for documents and payments, book everyone on the same flight, and agree one gathering point — ideally near the airport the evening before. Relatives with different budgets can stay in different hotels and still perform Umrah and Ziyarat together.
The package covers the trip itself. Daily life in Makkah and Madinah is extra, and Bahawalpur families who plan for it in advance travel far more relaxed. Amounts depend on your habits and the exchange rate, so agree a daily figure per person before you leave.
| Extra cost | When it applies | How to keep it down |
|---|---|---|
| Lunch and dinner | Room-only or breakfast packages | Eat at the many Pakistani and Indian restaurants near pilgrim hotels; share large plates |
| Taxis | When the shuttle isn’t running, or elders are tired | Plan Haram visits around shuttle hours; share within the group |
| SIM or eSIM | Maps, WhatsApp and Nusuk | One data plan per family, shared by hotspot |
| Laundry | Stays longer than a week | Quick-dry clothes; wash small items in the room |
| Ziyarat | If not in the package | Join a group tour rather than hiring a private car |
| Wheelchair or pusher | For elderly or less mobile travellers | Bring a light folding chair, or arrange one early |
| Gifts and excess baggage | On the way home | Check the return allowance and Zamzam rules before shopping |
This example shows a comfortable pace for a first Umrah from Bahawalpur. Your operator adapts it to your flights, hotels and whether you start in Makkah or Madinah.
| Days | Where | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Makkah | Arrive, check in, rest; perform Umrah when ready |
| 2 | Makkah | Recovery day — prayers in the Haram, no extra walking |
| 3–5 | Makkah | Prayers, Tawaf at quieter hours, one morning of Ziyarat |
| 6 | To Madinah | Road or Haramain train; check in and rest |
| 7–9 | Madinah | Prayers in Masjid an-Nabawi, Rawdah at your Nusuk slot, Ziyarat over two mornings |
| 10–11 | Departure | Pack, weigh bags, transfer to the airport and fly home |
The principle is simple: travel days, the Umrah itself and Ziyarat each get their own day, with rest in between. It keeps everyone well enough to worship on every day of the trip.
This is a planning overview for Bahawalpur pilgrims, not a substitute for learning the fiqh from a scholar you trust. Knowing the order explains why hotel distance and rest days matter so much.
Allow three to five hours for the whole sequence, and longer in crowds. That is why a long journey, a late check-in and a distant hotel together make the first night so demanding — and why resting first is sometimes the wiser choice.
Most packages offer a short programme of visits to places connected with the life of the Prophet ﷺ and early Islamic history. Check whether Ziyarat is included in your quote and which sites are covered.
Spread Ziyarat over separate mornings rather than one long, hot day, especially with elders, and don’t schedule it on the same day as a long journey.
It's the single best way to protect the start of your trip.
After a road journey, a calm Madinah start helps elders recover.
Especially in summer, a closer hotel matters more than stars.
Multan's seats serve all of South Punjab.
Leave the day before for early flights.
Desert summers at home don't make Makkah's walks easy.
Include the road journey to Multan.
Check the operator on the MoRA list and pay only a business account.
Bahawalpur families have a good route to both holy cities through Multan. Plan the drive, respect the heat and choose the Makkah hotel by distance.
A practical takeaway: ask for your quote with the Multan transfer included, and the hotel names and flight numbers in writing.
