Dera Ghazi Khan Umrah Guide 2026

Umrah from Dera Ghazi Khan in 2026: The Multan Route and Planning

Quick Answer

We found no non-stop Saudi flights from Dera Ghazi Khan, so pilgrims usually cross the Indus and fly from Multan, which had non-stop Jeddah flights on PIA, Airblue and Saudia and Madinah flights on PIA and Airblue when we checked. Travel the day before early flights, choose a closer Makkah hotel for elders, and prepare for heat.

Umrah from Dera Ghazi Khan at a Glance

Dera Ghazi Khan lies west of the Indus, between the river and the Suleiman mountains. Its pilgrims, together with families from Rajanpur, Taunsa, Kot Chutta and the tribal belt, usually begin their Umrah with a road journey east across the river to Multan. When we checked, we found no non-stop Saudi flights from Dera Ghazi Khan's own airport.

That makes the crossing to Multan the key planning step. This guide covers the route, flight choices, heat and group travel, and every other planning step. For the Umrah rites and hotel categories, see our complete Umrah guide.

Multan and Lahore Flights

When we checked airline schedules on 25 September 2026:

AirportNon-stop to JeddahNon-stop to MadinahFlight time to Jeddah
Multan International Airport (MUX) PIA, Airblue, Saudia PIA, Airblue about 5–6 hours
Allama Iqbal International Airport (LHE) PIA, Airblue, Fly Jinnah, Saudia, SereneAir PIA, Airblue about 5½ hours

Airlines change schedules every season and usually add flights around Ramadan. Ask for the airline, flight numbers, times, any stops and the baggage allowance for your exact dates. Some fares sold as “direct” stop in the Gulf on the way.

Lahore is much further from Dera Ghazi Khan than Multan. It only makes sense if no Multan flight fits fixed dates, and then only after comparing the whole journey.

Getting to Multan

The drive to Multan crosses the Indus. The time it takes depends heavily on traffic at the river crossing and entering Multan, so treat it as a journey that can surprise you:

If you want the transfer arranged, ask for it in your quote. It is only included if listed. See Umrah from Multan for the airport.

Local Planning Notes

Heat

Dera Ghazi Khan's summers are among the hottest in Punjab. Families here are hardy, but Makkah's reflected heat and long walks are a different kind of strain. For summer trips, choose a closer Makkah hotel and walk early and late.

Documents from Outlying Areas

Families from the mountain and tribal areas may need a long trip to reach passport offices and vaccination centres. Plan one visit for the whole family, and check name spellings, which can vary between documents.

Language

Many Dera Ghazi Khan elders prefer Saraiki or Balochi. Ask for a group leader who can explain the rites in a language they understand well.

Madinah First

After a long road journey, flying Multan–Madinah gives elders a gentle start with no Ihram on the plane.

Choosing an Umrah Package from Dera Ghazi Khan

Every category below is available to Dera Ghazi Khan pilgrims. The right one depends less on your budget than on who is travelling and how far they can comfortably walk in Makkah.

CategoryMakkah hotelRoomsUsually suits
EconomyFurther out; shuttle commonQuad or sharedFit, budget-first, repeat pilgrims
3 StarWalkable, not the closestDouble to quadFirst-timers, couples, small families
4 StarCloser, shorter walkDouble to quadFamilies with elderly parents
5 StarNearest bandDouble to quadVery elderly, Ramadan, special trips

Because Dera Ghazi Khan pilgrims often arrive in Saudi Arabia already tired from a long road journey, a closer Makkah hotel is worth more to them than to most. Many families pair it with a 3 star hotel in Madinah, where plenty of hotels are close to Masjid an-Nabawi anyway.

How to Compare Umrah Quotes in Dera Ghazi Khan

Two quotes that look alike can describe very different trips. Ask every seller the same questions so you can compare fairly:

When One Quote Is Much Cheaper

Before celebrating, check four things: the hotel’s exact name and walk, whether the flight is non-stop, whether meals are included, and whether the room is quad. The gap nearly always hides in one of these answers — or in a road transfer that isn’t included.

What Affects the Price of Umrah from Dera Ghazi Khan

We don’t publish a fixed “from” price for Dera Ghazi Khan because it would date within weeks. Send your dates and who is travelling, and you’ll get a written, itemised price that shows the road transfer separately if you want one.

Documents for Dera Ghazi Khan Pilgrims

The delays we see most often are simple ones: a name spelled one way on the CNIC and another on the passport, a married woman’s surname that differs between documents, a child’s expired passport, or a vaccination taken too late for the 10-day rule. Check all four before you pay a deposit. Because offices may be a long trip from Dera Ghazi Khan, try to handle passports and vaccinations for the whole family in a single visit to the city.

When to Book Umrah from Dera Ghazi Khan

Travel periodDemandAdvice
RamadanVery highBook as early as possible; the last ten nights go first
Rajab and Sha’banHighPopular pre-Ramadan window
December–January holidaysHighFamily season; book when school dates are announced
SummerModerateVery hot in Makkah — choose a closer hotel
Muharram and SafarLowerBest value; easiest to find close hotels

The Umrah visa must be used within 30 days of issue, so a good operator secures hotels and flights early but applies for the visa close to your travel date.

Families, Elders and Groups from Dera Ghazi Khan

Elderly Parents

Three decisions matter most: the closest Makkah hotel your budget allows, a Madinah-first flight if one fits your dates, and rest days between travel, the Umrah and Ziyarat. Request wheelchair assistance when the ticket is issued — for both airports and both directions — and keep medicines in hand baggage with prescriptions and a few spare days’ supply.

Women

Saudi rules have relaxed for adult women travelling in organised groups, but operator policies and document checks still vary. Tell the operator about every woman travelling before booking, and ask for rooms with family members.

Children

Every child needs a passport, plus a B-Form or FRC to show the relationship. A family quad room is usually the best value. In the Haram, keep children close, put your phone number on a card in their pocket and agree a meeting point.

Large Groups

Choose one coordinator for documents and payments, book everyone on the same flight, and agree one gathering point — ideally near the airport the evening before. Relatives with different budgets can stay in different hotels and still perform Umrah and Ziyarat together.

What Arrival Day Looks Like

  1. Ihram: if you fly to Jeddah, men usually put on Ihram at home or at the airport and make the intention before the aircraft crosses the Miqat — the crew normally announces it. If you fly to Madinah, no Ihram is needed on the plane.
  2. Immigration and baggage can take a while in busy seasons. Keep passports, visa printouts and hotel vouchers together, and let elders sit while one person handles the luggage.
  3. The operator’s transport meets the group. Save the driver’s or representative’s number before you fly.
  4. Jeddah to Makkah is roughly one to two hours by road, depending on traffic.
  5. Check-in and Umrah: many groups perform Umrah soon after arrival. Anyone exhausted can rest first — they stay in Ihram, observing its rules, until they finish.

Checking an Umrah Operator from Dera Ghazi Khan

  1. Check the Ministry of Religious Affairs list of verified Umrah operators — since July 2026, only verified companies may arrange Umrah.
  2. If a local agent is selling to you, ask which verified company actually holds your visa and hotels.
  3. Pay only by bank transfer to a business account, with an invoice and receipts.
  4. Get everything in writing: flights, hotels, rooms, meals, transport, validity and cancellation terms.
  5. Save the operator’s Saudi contact number before you fly.

Planning Umrah from Dera Ghazi Khan: Step by Step

  1. Fix your dates, with Ramadan, school holidays and the weather in mind.
  2. Choose the departure airport — usually Multan for Dera Ghazi Khan — and check flights for your dates.
  3. Check everyone’s documents and fix any mismatches.
  4. Get vaccinated early enough for the 10-day rule.
  5. Request quotes with named hotels, flight numbers, room sharing and meals, plus the road transfer.
  6. Compare line by line, check the operator and pay by bank transfer.
  7. Install Nusuk and book the Rawdah slot for your Madinah dates.
  8. Plan the journey to the airport, arriving the day before an early flight.
  9. Travel, with a hotel card for everyone and the operator’s Saudi number saved.

Budgeting Beyond the Package Price

The package covers the trip itself. Daily life in Makkah and Madinah is extra, and Dera Ghazi Khan families who plan for it in advance travel far more relaxed. Amounts depend on your habits and the exchange rate, so agree a daily figure per person before you leave.

Extra costWhen it appliesHow to keep it down
Lunch and dinnerRoom-only or breakfast packagesEat at the many Pakistani and Indian restaurants near pilgrim hotels; share large plates
TaxisWhen the shuttle isn’t running, or elders are tiredPlan Haram visits around shuttle hours; share within the group

A Sample 10-Night Plan

This example shows a comfortable pace for a first Umrah from Dera Ghazi Khan. Your operator adapts it to your flights, hotels and whether you start in Makkah or Madinah.

DaysWherePlan
1MakkahArrive, check in, rest; perform Umrah when ready
2MakkahRecovery day — prayers in the Haram, no extra walking
3–5MakkahPrayers, Tawaf at quieter hours, one morning of Ziyarat
6To MadinahRoad or Haramain train; check in and rest
7–9MadinahPrayers in Masjid an-Nabawi, Rawdah at your Nusuk slot, Ziyarat over two mornings
10–11DeparturePack, weigh bags, transfer to the airport and fly home

The principle is simple: travel days, the Umrah itself and Ziyarat each get their own day, with rest in between. It keeps everyone well enough to worship on every day of the trip.

Performing Umrah: The Sequence in Brief

This is a planning overview for Dera Ghazi Khan pilgrims, not a substitute for learning the fiqh from a scholar you trust. Knowing the order explains why hotel distance and rest days matter so much.

  1. Ihram at or before the Miqat. Take a ghusl, men wear the two unstitched sheets, make the intention for Umrah and begin the Talbiyah. From then on, the Ihram restrictions apply.
  2. Tawaf. Seven circuits of the Kaaba, starting from the corner of the Black Stone, followed by two rak’ahs — behind Maqam Ibrahim if there is space, otherwise anywhere in the mosque. Upper floors give longer but quieter circuits, and have wheelchair routes.
  3. Sa’i. Seven lengths between Safa and Marwah, starting at Safa — about three kilometres in total, indoors and air-conditioned, with lanes for wheelchairs.
  4. Halq or taqsir. Men shave their heads or shorten their hair; women trim a small length from the ends. The Ihram restrictions then end.

Allow three to five hours for the whole sequence, and longer in crowds. That is why a long journey, a late check-in and a distant hotel together make the first night so demanding — and why resting first is sometimes the wiser choice.

Ziyarat in Makkah and Madinah

Most packages offer a short programme of visits to places connected with the life of the Prophet ﷺ and early Islamic history. Check whether Ziyarat is included in your quote and which sites are covered.

Spread Ziyarat over separate mornings rather than one long, hot day, especially with elders, and don’t schedule it on the same day as a long journey.
