Check Available 2026 PackagesMost pilgrims from Jhang travel by road to Faisalabad International Airport (LYP) in Faisalabad, and the Jhang routes below were checked on 25 September 2026.
For Jhang pilgrims, connecting options, Ihram timing and baggage rules are explained in our Umrah flights guide.
Hotels, inclusions, prices, documents and departure day are explained once in our full guide — pick the part your Jhang trip needs:
Jhang pilgrims usually fly from Faisalabad, about 80 km away, which had non-stop Jeddah flights on limited days when we checked, or from Multan, with flights to both Jeddah and Madinah. Compare both for your dates, travel the day before early flights, and choose your package by the Makkah hotel's walking distance.
Jhang, on the Chenab in central Punjab, is an old city with deep spiritual roots and strong family traditions. Many Jhang families travel for Umrah together, often with relatives from Shorkot, Chiniot and the surrounding villages. Jhang has no airport of its own, but two Umrah airports are within reach: Faisalabad to the north-east and Multan to the south.
Choosing between them is the most useful planning decision you'll make. Faisalabad is closer but has fewer flight days and no Madinah flights. Multan is further but flies to both holy cities. This guide helps you decide and then walks through every planning step. For the Umrah rites and hotel categories, see our complete Umrah guide.
When we checked airline schedules on 25 September 2026:
| Airport | Non-stop to Jeddah | Non-stop to Madinah | Flight time to Jeddah |
|---|---|---|---|
| Faisalabad International Airport (LYP) | PIA, on limited days | None found | about 5½ hours |
| Multan International Airport (MUX) | PIA, Airblue, Saudia | PIA, Airblue | about 5–6 hours |
Airlines change schedules every season and usually add flights around Ramadan. Ask for the airline, flight numbers, times, any stops and the baggage allowance for your exact dates. Some fares sold as “direct” stop in the Gulf on the way.
| Airport | Choose it when | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Faisalabad | Its limited-day Jeddah flight matches your dates | Few days; no Madinah; seats go early in peak season |
| Multan | You want Madinah first, more airlines, or Faisalabad has no flight on your dates | Longer drive; overnight for early flights |
Our advice is to ask for both options for your dates with the road transfer included, and compare the total journey. Families living on the southern side of the district may find Multan the more natural choice anyway. See Umrah from Faisalabad and Umrah from Multan for the airports.
Both airports mean a drive of a couple of hours or more. For night or early-morning flights, and whenever elders are travelling, go the day before and stay near the airport. Use a comfortable vehicle with room for luggage, plan rest stops, and keep passports, Ihram and medicines in one hand bag. If you want the transfer arranged, ask for it in your quote. It is only included if listed.
Central Punjab's winter fog, usually worst in December and January, can close roads and delay early flights, so build in extra time. Summers are hot at home and fiercer in Makkah, so choose a closer hotel for a summer trip and walk early and late.
Via Multan, Jhang families can start in Madinah: no Ihram on the plane, a calm first few days, and Ihram at the Madinah Miqat when travelling to Makkah. It's often the kindest start for elders.
Relatives from Chiniot, Gojra and Shorkot often travel with Jhang groups. Choose one airport for everyone, collect documents early and gather the evening before.
Jhang families can choose any category. The difference that matters most day to day is how far the Makkah hotel is from the Haram, not the number of stars.
| Category | Makkah hotel | Rooms | Usually suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Economy | Further out; shuttle common | Quad or shared | Fit, budget-first, repeat pilgrims |
| 3 Star | Walkable, not the closest | Double to quad | First-timers, couples, small families |
| 4 Star | Closer, shorter walk | Double to quad | Families with elderly parents |
| 5 Star | Nearest band | Double to quad | Very elderly, Ramadan, special trips |
Because Jhang pilgrims often arrive in Saudi Arabia already tired from a long road journey, a closer Makkah hotel is worth more to them than to most. Many families pair it with a 3 star hotel in Madinah, where plenty of hotels are close to Masjid an-Nabawi anyway.
Two quotes that look alike can describe very different trips. Ask every seller the same questions so you can compare fairly:
Before celebrating, check four things: the hotel’s exact name and walk, whether the flight is non-stop, whether meals are included, and whether the room is quad. The gap nearly always hides in one of these answers — or in a road transfer that isn’t included.
We don’t publish a fixed “from” price for Jhang because it would date within weeks. Send your dates and who is travelling, and you’ll get a written, itemised price that shows the road transfer separately if you want one.
Check every traveller’s file early. Mismatched name spellings, expired passports (often children’s or elders’) and late vaccinations cause far more delays than visa refusals do. Because offices may be a long trip from Jhang, try to handle passports and vaccinations for the whole family in a single visit to the city.
| Travel period | Demand | Advice |
|---|---|---|
| Ramadan | Very high | Book as early as possible; the last ten nights go first |
| Rajab and Sha’ban | High | Popular pre-Ramadan window |
| December–January holidays | High | Family season; book when school dates are announced |
| Summer | Moderate | Very hot in Makkah — choose a closer hotel |
| Muharram and Safar | Lower | Best value; easiest to find close hotels |
The Umrah visa must be used within 30 days of issue, so a good operator secures hotels and flights early but applies for the visa close to your travel date.
Three decisions matter most: the closest Makkah hotel your budget allows, a Madinah-first flight if one fits your dates, and rest days between travel, the Umrah and Ziyarat. Request wheelchair assistance when the ticket is issued — for both airports and both directions — and keep medicines in hand baggage with prescriptions and a few spare days’ supply.
Saudi rules have relaxed for adult women travelling in organised groups, but operator policies and document checks still vary. Tell the operator about every woman travelling before booking, and ask for rooms with family members.
Every child needs a passport, plus a B-Form or FRC to show the relationship. A family quad room is usually the best value. In the Haram, keep children close, put your phone number on a card in their pocket and agree a meeting point.
Choose one coordinator for documents and payments, book everyone on the same flight, and agree one gathering point — ideally near the airport the evening before. Relatives with different budgets can stay in different hotels and still perform Umrah and Ziyarat together.
The package covers the trip itself. Daily life in Makkah and Madinah is extra, and Jhang families who plan for it in advance travel far more relaxed. Amounts depend on your habits and the exchange rate, so agree a daily figure per person before you leave.
| Extra cost | When it applies | How to keep it down |
|---|---|---|
| Lunch and dinner | Room-only or breakfast packages | Eat at the many Pakistani and Indian restaurants near pilgrim hotels; share large plates |
| Taxis | When the shuttle isn’t running, or elders are tired | Plan Haram visits around shuttle hours; share within the group |
| SIM or eSIM | Maps, WhatsApp and Nusuk | One data plan per family, shared by hotspot |
| Laundry | Stays longer than a week | Quick-dry clothes; wash small items in the room |
| Ziyarat | If not in the package | Join a group tour rather than hiring a private car |
| Wheelchair or pusher | For elderly or less mobile travellers | Bring a light folding chair, or arrange one early |
| Gifts and excess baggage | On the way home | Check the return allowance and Zamzam rules before shopping |
This example shows a comfortable pace for a first Umrah from Jhang. Your operator adapts it to your flights, hotels and whether you start in Makkah or Madinah.
| Days | Where | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Makkah | Arrive, check in, rest; perform Umrah when ready |
| 2 | Makkah | Recovery day — prayers in the Haram, no extra walking |
| 3–5 | Makkah | Prayers, Tawaf at quieter hours, one morning of Ziyarat |
| 6 | To Madinah | Road or Haramain train; check in and rest |
| 7–9 | Madinah | Prayers in Masjid an-Nabawi, Rawdah at your Nusuk slot, Ziyarat over two mornings |
| 10–11 | Departure | Pack, weigh bags, transfer to the airport and fly home |
The principle is simple: travel days, the Umrah itself and Ziyarat each get their own day, with rest in between. It keeps everyone well enough to worship on every day of the trip.
This is a planning overview for Jhang pilgrims, not a substitute for learning the fiqh from a scholar you trust. Knowing the order explains why hotel distance and rest days matter so much.
Allow three to five hours for the whole sequence, and longer in crowds. That is why a long journey, a late check-in and a distant hotel together make the first night so demanding — and why resting first is sometimes the wiser choice.
Most packages offer a short programme of visits to places connected with the life of the Prophet ﷺ and early Islamic history. Check whether Ziyarat is included in your quote and which sites are covered.
Spread Ziyarat over separate mornings rather than one long, hot day, especially with elders, and don’t schedule it on the same day as a long journey.
The best airport changes with your dates.
Faisalabad doesn't fly to Madinah.
Especially in fog season and with elders.
After a long drive, a short walk to the Haram matters.
Check the flight days before fixing leave.
Travel the day before in winter.
Include the drive in every comparison.
Check the operator on the MoRA list and pay only a business account.
Jhang families can choose between Faisalabad and Multan. Compare both, plan the drive and choose the Makkah hotel by distance.
A practical takeaway: ask for two versions of your quote, Faisalabad and Multan, with transfers included, and compare them side by side.
